I did it

Despite the lack of suggestions, I picked a new name (and changed the blog address).  Not sure I like it yet.  It may change again, stay tuned.

I've mentioned in the past that I dislike running.  Then I said I was starting to like it a little.  If you'd asked me last week, I would have stated that I HATE it.  What on earth was I thinking training for a 1/2 marathon?  Especially after barely ... wait, lets face it, I didn't run at ALL from Thanksgiving to New Year's, other than a couple of very short (1 mile or less) runs the week between Christmas & New Year's.  The first week of training was KILLING me.  My pace was off, I was SLOW, I hurt.  I just didn't think I could do it.  I'm still slow, And I'm still sore after the 3 + mile runs, but in just the 2nd week of training, I've increased my speed a little.  And I'm already running a longer tempo (5 mins running before a walk break) than I was right after Christmas.  Hubster says it's called "muscle memory".  Even though it has been weeks without running, my body remembers the motion & can recover that strength & endurance.  We are both confident that over the next 2 1/2 months I will only get faster.  And if I don't, that's OK.  My slow pace is still on target to finish under the 3 1/2 hr limit.

There's no backing out now.  I literally JUST completed registration for myself & hubster!  Yikes!  Not being one to frit money away, there's no way I'll back down now.  $75 per runner is pretty motivational.

Now to juggle household duties, homeschooling 2 active boys, keeping up with a nearly 18 month old toddler and training!

Is it nap time yet?
