Happy 4th of July!!!

Just because it's a holiday weekend, doesn't mean I skip out on training.  This weekend's run was a 30 minute 6/1 run/walk workout.  Hubs was off both Saturday & Sunday and we had plans to go to the Harrisburg July 4th parade Saturday morning, fireworks Saturday night and then a cookout with our extended surrogate family.  That left me a little confused about getting my run in.  I did make it over to Weight Watchers at 7:30 Saturday morning for my weekly weigh-in & meeting.  Lost 3.2 lbs this week!  Woot!  Which means I reached my first major goal, losing 10% of my starting weight.  Got a little keychain, a tangible reminder of how far I've come.  Yay me!

Hubs is so supportive of this new me.  He knew how important it was for me to get my run in.  After taking the kids to the parade (which was great - small town American 4th of July!), getting lunch for everyone & putting Baby Girl down for her nap, I grabbed my gym bag & ran over to the YMCA to get my run in (and take a nice peaceful shower!).  Stopped at Target to pick up a few things for dinner & made it back home before Baby Girl woke up.  We grilled some steaks (yum!) before heading over to the Harrisburg Park for fireworks.  The festivities were a little cheesy (think really bad fair rides & vendors), but the kids were thrilled to try Dippin' Dots & hang out with their best buds.

I just have to tell you that I LOVE small town America.  The 4th of July celebration, the sense of community.  It was all pretty awesome.  Hanging out at the park with some of our best friends, watching what was probably THE best fireworks display I've ever seen, snuggled up with my Baby Girl & Hubs.  It was a perfect evening.

We topped off our 4th by spending time with our surrogate family yesterday afternoon.  A cookout with yummy food, good friends & the kids having a great time.  What better way to spend the weekend?!  Hubs is back at work today and Rocky & Rambo and I will be working on some more homeschooling activities.

Thank you to all who fought to gain our freedom and to all those who continue to serve & fight to protect it.  Happy 4th of July!!
