It's official. I started my 11 week triathlon training yesterday. Yesterday, tri training was a 15 minute run. Since we're also on the last week of C25k training and I missed my weekend run, I ran 30 minutes, with a 5/1 run/walk interval. Today, tri training was a 5 mile bike ride. We were supposed to have our last C25k class tonight, running the 5k course again, but it was cancelled due to the heat index today. (Man it is HOT out there!) This means, I inadvertently did a BRICK training workout today. And it sucks. A BRICK is where you transition from either the swim to the bike or the bike to the run. My legs were feeling jello-like when I got off that bike and I could have sworn they were someone else's legs when I started running. Blah. I think I understand why you don't really do that until Week 5 of tri training.
Workout summary:
Day 1
- 30 minute run, 5/1 run walk interval - just under 2 miles
Day 2
- 20 minute bike ride, just over 5 miles
- 45 minute run, 6/1 interval, just under 3 miles (I hate running on the tread, have I mentioned that?)
